Trip to Japan

Concerts in smaller towns around Tokyo and Kyoto

55 singers from Weidenstetten and Ulm travelled in the spring of 2006 as Chorgemeinschaft Ulm through Japan.

“Japanese people love European songs”, said Hartmut Premendra Mayer († 2014) who at the time directed the men’s choir Weidenstetten as well as the mixed choir Lehr and the choir Levantate.

In Japan the singers and accompanying persons were accommodated partly in families and partly in hotels.

The trip was a mixture of music, culture and getting to know each other. Mr. Satofumi Sugimoto, then still employed as a musician at the Philharmonic Orchestra in Ulm, now retired and living back home in Japan, did a great job in organizing the trip. Thanks to his contacts we all had a great time in a very inspiring country.
