Portugal – Spain – Choir Trip

Our Journey:
We gave concerts in the Chapel of Palacio Nacional in Sintra and Evora, a UNESCO-worldculture heritage, where we had the pleasure to listen to the extraordinary men’s choir, Grupo Cantares de Evora. We also encountered the very hospitable host choir of Evora.
We visited a Portuguese winery under the direction of an ancient Palatinian who provided us with a very fine catering and made us taste some of his exquisite vines.
We now know what Fado means and enjoyed its music very much.
We undertook a great hike along the Atlantic Coast and had a fun day off at the Algarve beach.
We performed a splendid concert in cooperation with the University Choir and Orchestra of Seville at the Iglesia del Sagrario de la Catedral in Seville, directed by Jose Carlos Carmona. – We experienced the Semana Santa with its Easter Celebrations and nightly processions.
Beyond that, we took a course in Flamenco dancing and understood then that this dance is a great art. The show we were presented afterwards was very capturing and its emotion is barely describable.
In Jerez we visited the Andalusian or Spanish Riding School and had later on the pleasure to find out about the ripening of Sherry.
In Linares, the native town of the guitar player Segovia, our former conductor Premendra encountered as a cello player the magic guitar of Jesús Lliteras.,We met the Coral Andres Segovia, who received us with great hospitality. Their lady conductor directed us all with competent movements.
The touristy highlight of our journey was certainly the visit of the Alhambra in Granada.
